Behind the Scenes: Discovery Bay’s Trade Show Adventures

In the last few months the Discovery Bay team has been doing its fair share of travelling. Between E3 in Los Angeles, the Las Vegas Licensing Show, ASTRA in Anaheim, and the Dallas Gift Show, we’re becoming pretty familiar with airports, cool hotel lobbies, terry cloth robes, early morning wake up calls, and delectable dinners. Of course, it’s not all fun and games…we do actually work as well. To prove it, we thought we’d show you some photos of our experiences, Discovery Bay style.

E3

We’re pretty excited about our first experience at E3. Now that we’re a digital gaming company in a digital gaming world, we were so ready to jump in to the geektastic, eye-opening experience that is E3.

We even got to see Atari, one of our newest partners, strut their stuff. Video game fans everywhere wanted to know what the godfather of gaming had up its sleeve.

We also got to go back in time with some of the classics (we spent some serious quality time here).

I didn’t hop in this contraption, but I’m pretty sure this is where folks got to test all sort of games (and maybe even time travel).

XBOX easily had the coolest presentation to get fellow gamers hyped about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and their upcoming games like Tomb Raider, and Ghost Recon Future Soldier.

As an avid Sims gamer from the beginning of Sims’ time, I’ve been waiting with bated breath for it to go social. Let’s just say this might have been the highlight of my experience.

Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas

Our licensing show was chock full of meetings and partner dinners, but we did have a few moments to walk the show and check out some pretty awesome booths.

The Sea World booth had live sea otters and penguins for all exhibitors to see. I’m not sure there’s anything more adorable than otters and penguins. Well done, Sea World.

Rovio made their presence known in Vegas with a modest display of their Angry Birds game.

My all-time favorite picture is this one of Cookie Monster’s backside. He’s clearly headed to the “I’d rather be blue booth.”

Astra and Dallas Gift Shows

At Astra we showcased our upcoming products with Highlights Magazine, The Smithsonian Institute, GALLOP! The Game, and of course, all of our great classics, too.

Last but not least, Discovery Bay had quite the presence at the Dallas Gift show…some fan favorites were Highlights Buzz Blast, GALLOP! The Game and, Smithsonian’s Mission Museum: Case of the Missing Mummy.

We’ll barely have time to catch our breath before heading off to The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market® next week. Stay tuned for photos!
