Resolution #3: Clean House

For the final installment of New Year’s Resolutions—Served Family Style, we’re exploring ways to give back. No resolution list is complete without the goal of being charitable.

Resolution #2: Learn Together through Adventures

We’re all learning and teaching every day. (If I got a dollar every time my mother asked me a Microsoft Word question, I would have two steady incomes.) While learning and teaching happen naturally day by day, it can be exciting and rewarding to learn something new as a family. If nothing else, a little camaraderie goes a long way. When you mix learning with adventure, it becomes especially fun—and ensures lasting memories!

Resolution #1: Exercise More Creativity

Duo Pop Agility Training

Playing Swoop with Duo Pop Poppers might require some agility training. Here are three easy steps to become a true Pop master:

1.  Before you start talking smack, you should exercise your thumb of choice to prevent cramps—see diagram. This is also a helpful exercise for beginners (n00bz, if you will), who might have a case of “hasty thumb.”

Tips for Falling into Autumn…with Grace

fall leaves

You just stepped on a crunchy leaf, the wind is blowing with a little more fervor, daylight has become a fleeting thing, and your house suddenly smells of burnt toast from the kids experimenting with breakfast in the morning.

 It must be fall.

Springtime: When the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold?

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold:  when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade~Charles Dickens

Who knew that ol' Chuck knew and understood our seasons so well (especially in the Northeast and Northwest corners of the country??

But believe it or not, Spring is here (officially at least): baseball opening day and spring break is around the corner, trees are blossoming and parents and children alike look forward to escaping the indoors and enjoying the outdoors.

Bring Generations Together For the New Year

It’s that time of year again! Maybe you’re planning a New Year's party or traveling to see family members. Either way, it’s a great opportunity to spend quality time together.

When it comes to New Year's celebrations, there’s plenty of fun to be had, but how do you keep everyone happy once dinner is over and dessert has been served? Grandpa might have a tough time with video games and the kids might be too restless to listen to stories about the good old days. So why not break out a board game or a puzzle? It’s something everyone can get into.

Secret Santa Gift Hunt

It’s that time of year again, you’ve picked out the random business card from a hat, and voila, you are someone’s Secret Santa. Before you begin to stress out or ruin the surprise by interviewing them on their top ten favorite candies, we invite you to consider giving a gift that they’ll enjoy and be able to use over and over again (not to mention we think it will look great on their desk!).

Bringing the Snow Day Inside

The weather’s dropping to below freezing, snow days are making their way into your kids’ schools and incidentally, your work. After you’ve had your fill of sledding and snow angels, warm up the hot the cocoa, turn on the fireplace and settle in for a snow day indoors with the kids. Just because they’re staying home from school, doesn’t mean they can’t learn and have fun.

With a few of our entertaining and education inspired games and activities, we encourage you to make the most of this spontaneous opportunity away from the outside world.
