We Took the Play Together Pledge, Will You?
On Saturday, November 12th, the gals from the marketing team decided to take the Play Together Pledge to another level. We’d been planning for a month to participate in the Winter Pineapple Classic in North Bend, Washington, because we thought what better way to encourage people to take the pledge than by actually doing it ourselves!
This Luau themed event consisted of a 5k obstacle course which included scaling walls, crawling through tight spaces, getting across monkey bars, trudging through a mud swamp while balancing on a slippery beam, and sliding through a slip ‘n slide, all while holding onto a team pineapple!
Dressed in appropriately competitive garb, “The Hawaiian Ninjas” showed up at 8:30am at Mountain Meadow Farms ready to brave the bitter cold 38 degree weather. Shivering in our clothes we put on our deck-fringe-turned-hula-skirts, took a bathroom break and came up with a plan to keep the pineapple safe. We also took some fun photos for your viewing pleasure.

Here we are at the start, pineapple in hand and ready to rock! It’s so cold…
Throughout most of the race our photographer was trying his best to not freeze to death. So he took some pictures of the scenery (not pictured here) while waiting for us to get to the finish line to give us air high fives (because we were drenched in mud).

This is right after we dove through the slip ‘n slide. Not sure if you can tell, but we’re pretty muddy!

What’s cool about the Winter Pineapple Classic is that all proceeds go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and there were so many amazing sponsors. In fact, above we are enjoying a post-race brew from one of the sponsors, Georgetown Brewery. (Did we mention there was a mini beer break in the middle of the course? Pretty cool!) After the race we also got to enjoy delicious Hawaiian food donated by Kauai Family Restaurant.
Though still raising money to reach our goal, the Hawaiian Ninjas are proud to say “We took the Play Together Pledge!!”
Have you taken the pledge yet? What activities do you do with your friends or family to encourage quality, together time?
