Producer

Discovery Bay Games, the leader in gaming app-enabled devices for the Apple iPad, is seeking a strong candidate to take on a producer role with our products. We are seeking an experienced, effective, and passionate producer to deliver high-quality games and products by coordinating with internal teams, external development partners, and licensing partners.  The successful candidate will have the knowledge, creativity, discipline, and people skills to drive product development within budget and timeline to meet all product objectives.

The producer will effectively partner with multiple internal team members including the Technical Producer, Marketing Manager, Hardware Producer, and QA Manager to deliver amazing and innovative products.  The producer may also be working with Globalization teams to take existing products to international markets. This position will require the candidate to be able to successfully interface with multiple levels of management (from the executive to the line-level production people), both internal and external to Discovery Bay Games.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

CREATIVE TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • Drives the work of creative contributors, including illustrators, animators, editors, writers, sound designers, UI designers, and game designers, to produce a fun and engaging product optimized for the target audience
  • Interfaces with Creative Leads to ensure product meets gameplay and consumer needs.
  • Interfaces with Hardware Producer to ensure gameplay makes the most use of the app-enabled device
  • Works with members of a product team to translate the overall vision for the program or product into requirements for a technical team to understand and develop
  • Interfaces with Quality Assurance team to ensure style consistency and gameplay functionality
  • Interfaces with Licensor for approval rounds on all licensed products

 

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

  • Schedules and drives milestone management with internal and external teams
  • Effectively communicates with external publishing and development partners, internal teams, and senior management
  • Coordinates, motivates, drives, and leads internal and external teams to drive product through release
  • Effectively balances and resolves conflicts between quality, schedule, resources, and market needs
  • Identifies and mitigates risks through the release cycle

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience shipping software or producing entertainment products for kids and/or family and/or adult social casual games
  • Passion for games
  • Demonstrated excellence in problem solving; proactive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and cross-team communication skills
  • Experience working with licensing partners desired

Financial Reporting Manager

Discovery Bay Games, an innovative producer of board games, puzzles, and tablet PC accessories is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Manager to join our rapidly growing team. Our new Financial Reporting Manager will use their knowledge, leadership and experience to own all of the company's financial reporting requirements and perform technical accounting research. This position will report to the Senior Director of Finance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Own the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, budget vs. actual analysis, and other financial data.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts.
  • Develop and prepare dashboard reporting.
  • Update budgets/forecasts.
  • Budget variance analysis including monthly reviews with senior management.
  • Help manage the annual audit process performed by the company's external auditors.
  • Provide information and support to the company to ensure GAAP requirements are met, including establishing and documenting accounting policies and procedures.
  • Manage certain critical areas of the company's accounting, including stock-based compensation, reserves and impairments.
  • Analyze new and proposed accounting standards issued by the FASB to determine the impact on the company, and if required, lead the company's implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Review agreements executed by the company to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for new or unusual transactions.
  • Monitor and revise policies and procedures as needed to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • B&O tax reporting and other state/local tax filings, as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline required. CPA is highly preferred.
  • 5+ years' of financial reporting experience, preferably with 3 years of public accounting experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Proficient in US GAAP and technical research.
  • Very strong Excel skills. Also proficient with Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to develop financial models.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced, highly confidential environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, with an intellectual curiosity and action oriented.
  • Quick learner.
  • Highly regarded for integrity, ethics, flexibility, teamwork, professional excellence and interpersonal skills.
