For the final installment of New Year’s Resolutions—Served Family Style, we’re exploring ways to give back. No resolution list is complete without the goal of being charitable.

New Year’s Resolutions—Served Family Style

It’s the first week of the New Year, and already we’re bombarded with lists upon lists of Best New Year’s Resolutions. Albeit inspirational and positive, they’re flooded with the usual suspects—lose weight, quit smoking, be less stressed, read more. What about the positive resolutions you can make that nurture your lifestyle as a family? Because this is our top priority, we’ve put together a three-part series of New Year’s resolutions for the whole family!

Resolution #1: Exercise More Creativity

Bring Generations Together For the New Year

It’s that time of year again! Maybe you’re planning a New Year's party or traveling to see family members. Either way, it’s a great opportunity to spend quality time together.

When it comes to New Year's celebrations, there’s plenty of fun to be had, but how do you keep everyone happy once dinner is over and dessert has been served? Grandpa might have a tough time with video games and the kids might be too restless to listen to stories about the good old days. So why not break out a board game or a puzzle? It’s something everyone can get into.

Bringing the Snow Day Inside

The weather’s dropping to below freezing, snow days are making their way into your kids’ schools and incidentally, your work. After you’ve had your fill of sledding and snow angels, warm up the hot the cocoa, turn on the fireplace and settle in for a snow day indoors with the kids. Just because they’re staying home from school, doesn’t mean they can’t learn and have fun.

With a few of our entertaining and education inspired games and activities, we encourage you to make the most of this spontaneous opportunity away from the outside world.

Tryptophan Busters

It’s Thanksgiving time, the family is all gathered together and you’ve checked off mostly everything from your TO DO list.  But what happens after the feast when the tryptophan starts kicking in and everyone’s just kind of…sitting around? How about little upper for entertainment? We have some ideas that’ll take the sleepiness out of the celebration, and utilize the phun in tryptophan.

It's a great idea to have a road trip distraction plan just so you're sure everyone's hands and minds are busy playing and not pestering. Here are a few ideas straight from the Discovery Bay team!
