New Year’s Resolutions—Served Family Style

It’s the first week of the New Year, and already we’re bombarded with lists upon lists of Best New Year’s Resolutions. Albeit inspirational and positive, they’re flooded with the usual suspects—lose weight, quit smoking, be less stressed, read more. What about the positive resolutions you can make that nurture your lifestyle as a family? Because this is our top priority, we’ve put together a three-part series of New Year’s resolutions for the whole family!

Resolution #1: Exercise More Creativity

We Took the Play Together Pledge, Will You?

On Saturday, November 12th, the gals from the marketing team decided to take the Play Together Pledge to another level. We’d been planning for a month to participate in the Winter Pineapple Classic in North Bend, Washington, because we thought what better way to encourage people to take the pledge than by actually doing it ourselves!

Discovery Bay Employees Give Back

Discovery Bay’s cool factor has risen quite a bit since the launch of our Atari Arcade—so much that the folks here totally wanted to spread the cool around Seattle. Whether charity walks or runs, events for animals, volunteer opportunities, or fundraisers, you better believe that Discovery Bay is there in some way, shape, or form.

Some say that the proof is in the pictures. I don’t really believe this, but we are a pretty photogenic group, so I compiled a few pictures from the events we’ve participated in over the last six months.

Discovery Bay Digs up Exciting New Partnership

Last week, Discovery Bay announced its exciting partnership with the Smithsonian Institution, the world’s largest museum complex. Discovery Bay’s enthusiasm grew from the idea that Smithsonian Institution is so much more than any old museum. It’s a visual story book of our world’s past, present, and future that is growing and evolving, keeping guests of all ages engaged and coming back for more. What better way to celebrate this timeless institution than to make products that highlight its treasures?

Turning Heads Down Screen Time to Heads Up Together Time

Discovery Bay has not only embraced the popularity of iPad and other tablets, we’ve reinvented the way a tablet can be used to encourage interactive family time. An ironic concept, seeing as some believe that technology is creating distance among people and that the use of a tablet is more of an anti-social act, even if other people are around. But, the hot topic this month isn’t whether or not the iPad is anti-social, it’s that the iPad is SO engaging that everyone in the family loves it (perhaps too much?), even your three year old.

New York Toy Fair Recap

New York Toy Fair Recap

It’s the week after New York Toy Fair, the nation’s largest toy and game show in the country, and we’re finally getting settled back into the office. Now that we have a minute to breathe from the exhausting, yet exhilarating trip, we wanted to give you the rundown on our Toy Fair adventure. This was Discovery Bay’s fifth Toy Fair and it proved to be our best year yet!

Tryptophan Busters

It’s Thanksgiving time, the family is all gathered together and you’ve checked off mostly everything from your TO DO list.  But what happens after the feast when the tryptophan starts kicking in and everyone’s just kind of…sitting around? How about little upper for entertainment? We have some ideas that’ll take the sleepiness out of the celebration, and utilize the phun in tryptophan.

Backseat Entertainment

Hand- in-hand with holiday season, come long trips via planes, trains, and automobiles. We know that stresses of commuting don't stop at packing warmly, and no one wants to inadvertently pull a Home Alone (1, 2, or 3)! Discovery Bay Games has got you covered for the fun side of travelling—entertainment.

It's a great idea to have a road trip distraction plan just so you're sure everyone's hands and minds are busy playing and not pestering. Here are a few ideas straight from the Discovery Bay team!

Couple's Night With a Twist

The work week is almost over and instead of planning on watching this month’s blockbuster you want to do something a little more social and different. How about a couple’s dinner and game party? We’re sure you’ve got some great dinner ideas covered so we won’t offer any groundbreaking recipes. But we do have some game ideas perfectly crafted for all types of amusement.

The Best Family Fun on a Budget

The holidays have ended and while you may be looking for extra room in your drawers for your brand new wool socks, or your tenth cashmere sweater, you’re probably also looking for ways to make up for the spending you did in the last month. Before you start splitting peas or dipping into your savings to spend quality time with family, we have some ways to do just that without breaking the bank.

Whether it’s in the living room  or at the park, grab a few of our games, dust them off if you haven’t played in a while, and get ready for some on budget, family fun!
